The Wildings

The Wildings
A mix of 8 different wild foraged native wildflowers in the Hudson Valley, New York. Each envelope contains hundreds of seeds from Milkweed, Goldenrod, Ironweed, Field Pennycress, Wild Bergamot, Joe Pye Weed, New England Asters and Evening Primrose.
The story of the Wildings:
Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, so too did the Wildings.
After decades—perhaps longer—of cultivation, the south meadow at River’s Edge Farm was finally left to rest. In the quiet that followed, long-dormant seeds stirred, reawakened, and emerged. Each passing year, more native wildflowers returned, thriving in the meadow’s fertile soil.
Wild bergamot and field pennycress appeared first. Then came Joe Pye weed and goldenrod, followed by milkweed, and waves of pale pink, white, and purple New England asters. Ironweed and evening primrose soon joined the chorus.
Today, the meadow is a glorious patchwork of swaying blooms, where butterflies, bees, and hummingbird moths drift through the daylight, and fireflies illuminate the night.
Scatter the seeds on bare soil in the late fall and cover over with soil. The seeds will take 3 years before they start growing. The first year they sleep, the second year they creep and the third year, they leap! These are perennial wildflowers which will spread over the area once they are established.
The Wildings seeds were harvested near River’s Edge Farm, in the south meadow. River’s Edge Farm is a climate resilient, carbon neutral, zero waste, pollinator supporting regenerative organic mini farm in the Hudson Valley, in upstate New York. More information available on its page on Instagram
