Pollinator Seed Project: Gray-Headed Coneflower

Pollinator Seed Project: Gray-Headed Coneflower
The Coneflower packaging features artwork by Karen Kimmel, setting the tone for the beauty held within.
Open the glue-and tape-free envelope to find a delicate glassine pouch of Coneflower seeds— bright yellow blossoms waiting to unfold.
The packaging is very special: the artwork is ready to be frames, creating a zero-waste piece of art to enhance your home, office or greenhouse.
The perennial Gray-Headed Coneflower is a slender, 3-5 ft. tall, hairy-stemmed plant bearing flower heads with drooping, yellow rays surrounding a roundish to ellipsoid, grayish central disc darkening to brown as rays drop off. One or several flowers, each on its own long stalk, may top a single stem.
The Coneflower blooms from late June till late September, requires sun to part shade, tolerates dry to moist soil and is popular with butterflies and bees. The seed heads in the fall attract birds.

The sweet pea seeds were harvested from River’s Edge Farm, a climate resilient, carbon neutral, zero waste, pollinator supporting regenerative organic mini farm in the Hudson Valley, in upstate New York. More information available on its page on Instagram.
